Dr. Douglas Denson attended the University of Alabama from 2003 – 2005, then Samford University from 2005 – 2008, where he earned his bachelor of science degree in June 2008. He went on to the University of Alabama at Birmingham dental school from 2008 – 2012, receiving his doctor of dental medicine degree in June 2012. Dr. Denson continued his education at UAB Medical School from 2013 – 2015, earning his medical degree in June 2015.
Dr. Denson completed his internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in general surgery from June 2015 – June 2016, which included critical care training and rotations in vascular surgery, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, pediatric surgery, and trauma. He then completed his anesthesia training at UAB from February 2016 – June 2016, which focused on airway and ventilation management, medication administration, and pediatric anesthesia. Dr. Denson completed his residency at UAB in oral and maxillofacial surgery from 2012 – 2018.

I am 21 and I got my wisdom teeth class 3 impacted top 2 out yesterday and today is day 2 and I feel better than ever thank God. I was moderately sedated and even under moderate sedation I got a bit anxious during the surgery, but Dr. Douglas Denson and his team were very comforting, kind, patient, supportive, and helped me to calm down letting me know everything was okay while my tooth was being extracted which did not hurt at all, just pressure because of being moderately sedated. I came here 6 years ago as well for my lower wisdom teeth and they are still the amazing and awesome team they are!!! :)
Dr. Denson was great. He was polite, professional, and straight to the point of what the problem is and what the solutions are. The finance employee was great about giving me the financials to compare when making my decision of what procedure I chose to have done. My jaw healed up great using the less-invasive method, and Dr. Denson was very clear about the recovery to expect. His front office staff/nurses are not the friendliest, but it's nothing too concerning.
Dr. Denson was great! He went out of his way to accommodate me on short notice, explained the procedure thoroughly, and answered all my questions patiently. The procedure was much quicker and easier than I had anticipated. I was in and out in about 35 minutes. No problems since. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
