Dr. Christopher Bannon earned his bachelor of engineering in biomedical engineering, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, between August 2005 – May 2009, where he was inducted into the Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Dental School in June 2013, where he was honored with the Outstanding Student Award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. Dr. Bannon completed his internship at UAB in oral and maxillofacial surgery from June 2013 – June 2014, followed by his MD from UAB Medical School, Birmingham, AL, from July 2014 – June 2016. He then completed his general surgery internship at UAB Hospital from June 2016 – June 2017. Dr. Bannon completed his residency at UAB in oral and maxillofacial surgery from June 2017 – June 2019 and served as chief resident from June 2018 – June 2019.
His research and presentations include topics such as mandibular reconstruction, devitalization of the premaxilla following dental implants, and surgical approaches to the mandible.
Dr. Christopher Bannon is currently serving as adjunct faculty at UAB School of Dentistry, a position he has held since January 2023.
Dr. Bannon is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, holds current Alabama Dental and Medical Licenses, and is certified in advanced cardiovascular life support and basic life support.
